Indications / Uses of AMLOTHIX Amlodipine 5mg Tablet
Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, works by relaxing blood vessels to lower high blood pressure, improving blood flow and reducing the heart's workload. This also enhances oxygen flow, preventing chest pain associated with heart issues.
This medication is also prescribed for treating specific types of chest pain, including Prinzmetal's angina, a rare form that occurs during rest.
What are the side-effects of AMLOTHIX Amlodipine 5mg Tablet?
Amlodipine can lead to dizziness or fatigue. Avoid driving or engaging in activities requiring alertness if affected. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience the following side effects:
- Sudden wheezing, chest pain, or difficulty breathing
- Swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips
- Tongue and throat swelling causing breathing difficulty
- Severe skin reactions such as rash, hives, or skin blistering
- Heart attack or abnormal heartbeat
- Inflamed pancreas resulting in severe abdominal and back pain with feeling very unwell.
Dosage / Direction for Use of AMLOTHIX Amlodipine 5mg Tablet
Adults:
The typical starting dose of Amlodipine is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at the same time daily with water, but avoid grapefruit juice.
Children (6-17 years):
The starting dose is 2.5 mg daily, up to a maximum of 5 mg daily. Amlodipine 2.5 mg tablets are not available, and splitting 5 mg tablets is not recommended. Continuously take the medication and consult your doctor before completing your prescription.
